OH CRAP FORGOT TO POST

QUICK UPDATE: Since last posting I've ran in two half marathons. I got 2nd in my age group in the first one and 3rd in my age group in the second one. For the second one I won a water belt. Which is useful for training, and this particular one would have cost me 50 dollars had I just bought it. But both times there weren't many people in my age group. Especially for the first one.

I was going to run in the Fear the Deer trail half, but it was full when I tried to register. Oh well, I'm registered for the Colfax now, and about a month after that I'll do the leadville heavy half.

Training Day 5

Weight: 139lbs
Distance: 15km
Time: 70min

I had pasta for dinner yesterday, but I ate too early. I thought it would be fine, I didn't feel hungry this morning, but I was wrong, at about the 8km mark I started to feel very fatigued. It was very difficult to finish in good time, and I ended up having to walk every now and then. I still haven't eaten breakfast, I need to do that.

I've learned my lesson. Gotta eat enough at the right time.

Training Day 4

Last Friday I was going to do a 10k, but it was far too cold, so I postponed it until Sunday evening after I was done working. It was a nice run, I used a different trail and stayed around my place of residence. Nothing much to report!

Official Training Day 3

Weight: Forgot to weigh myself this morning.
Temperature: 40 degrees F
Distance run: 15k

Last night I ate a smoked salmon filet and drank a glass of grapefruit juice at about 10 pm. They're kind of expensive but I really like them. Plus Honey Smoked Fish CO is a Colorado company, so that's a big plus. I like that King Soupers labels the local products, it makes finding them a lot easier.

I was expecting it to be as cold today as it was the day before yesterday. Nope. It was so hot. Comparatively speaking of course. My sister was sick, so I had to carry my own affairs, that made today's 15 kilometers pretty difficult, even though I packed very lightly. I ran my normal route, which I'm beginning to like very much, cherry creek trail makes it very easy to add more distance onto my runs. At the 10k mark I went and dropped off my tote bag in class, then left again to do another 5 kilometers.

My right ankle started hurting towards the end of the final 5k, I hope it's nothing.

UPDATE:

I added another 5k on this afternoon for a total of 20k run today. Now to figure out what to eat for dinner.

Official Training Day 2

Height: still 5'11"
Weight: 137.8lbs
Outside Temp: 11 degrees F
Total distance run this morning: 10.5k

Late last night I ate two turkey sausages, a bowl of lentils, and some vegetable stir-fry. I went to bed at 11 and woke up at 5:30, 6.5 hours of sleep.

This morning I showered and took a pre-run selfie before heading out. It was cold. 11 degrees F cold to be exact. That's -11.6C for you non-americans. The weekend's snowstorm left about a foot of snow on the ground, so in residential areas I ran on the street where I could. About a third of the businesses along Colorado blvd actually shovel their sidewalks, so for a larger portion of that leg of the run I was tramping through calf deep drifts.

Along the way I passed a couple who had lost their car keys in the snow. They looked cold.

Cherry creek trail had snow on it, but it had been shoveled at some point and not too much had accumulated since then, about 2 inches.

As I passed the familiar fort homeless under one of the bridges I knew that I was almost there. My nose was really starting to hurt. I arrived in class a little under an hour after I had left my front door.

Official Training Day 1

Height: 5' 11'
Weight: 140lbs
Longest distance run before today: 10 miles

After dinner at 10 last night, before going to bed I ate 4 eggs. I got 7 and a half hours of sleep. When I woke up, for once I didn't feel like I was going to throw up from hunger, I should eat larger dinners later. But I was still a little hungry, so I ate a chocolate larabar and drank a glass of water before pulling on my running clothes, mittens and hat and heading out. I almost slipped on the ice on the way to the light rail station. I had forgotten those attachable cleat things for my shoes.

I reached the light rail station in a few minutes to find my friend waiting for me . We boarded the train headed towards our transfer stop. During the ride we talked about work. At the Auraria West station we transferred to the W line. The heating in the train was either broken or simply not on. Whatever it was we were cold, despite our winter running gear.

We reached the Jefferson County gov't station and disembarked, it was less cold now, but still pretty damn cold. We ran up, and crossed 6th ave on the pedestrian bridge. We promptly got lost. Neither of us had run this route before. However, thanks to the magic of google maps we were soon back on track. We ran alongside a busier street, through a residential area, and eventually turned onto a paved running trail. We continued along this trail for a short while, eventually exiting the residential area to find ourselves in an open space park. We found our turn off, apex trail, and were dismayed to discover that not only was it unpaved, but the snow had made the trail conditions an unpleasant combination of icy and muddy. Undaunted, we continued up the trail.

Over the course of the next half mile we quickly became daunted. It was the world's dirtiest slip-n-slide. After beginning the first climb we decided to turn around. We ran back to the station and took the train back downtown. My friend and I parted ways at the Auraria West station. I rode the train one more stop, disembarked, and ran to class.

For lunch I had two sausage egg bagel sandwiches and a liter of water from Einstein's. They're too expensive. I can't make a habit of doing that.

After classes my casual running club had a meeting. There's a bug going around, so our already not very substantial ranks had suffered heavy losses for the day. It was just me and two other people. We ran to Starbucks (casual running club remember.) and had coffee with the theater professor. After coffee one of our trio decided that she was done for the afternoon, so we continued without her. We ran along cherry creek trail, eventually returning to our starting point.

For dinner I had a steak that had been discounted at walmart, a salad, several glasses of water, and some toast.

Running distance:
Morning: 4 miles
Afternoon: 3 miles
TOTAL: 8 miles
